Elaine-Week 4

This year, we have a huge garden! There are four plots around the yard with different fruits and vegetables. This picture is just one-third of the gardens and it has mostly zucchini, yellow squash and tomatoes.

Today, mom went and picked this week's crop of zucchini and squash. We got a whole bunch of them, so I am excited to eat some fresh veggies for dinner. I also used picnik for the first time with this picture and it was so cool! Thank-you to Patricia for telling us about it :) I love trying new things with the water mark.

Esther Week 4!

" Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people whom he has chosen as his heritage."
    Psalm 33:12

Next Monday  is the 4th of July.  I want to remind everyone to not be swallowed up in all the activities (although have fun too, fireworks, parades, cookouts, water balloons...) but to remember how the founding fathers based our country on the Word of God, and many gave their lives so that we could enjoy a free nation built on that foundation.

..::Patricia::.. (Week Four)

This post has to be about my cousin because,
1. I love her SO much,
2. She is coming from Florida to stay with us for ten days,
3. She is only one month older than my twin and I. So we are triplet's:)
and 4. She is an amazing, fun, wonderful, sweet person!
The picture above is from L-R: me, Cora and my twin Mary.
We were young then, but still pals:) I have to say, Mary cracks me up the most!
LOL

Week Four-Emily Rhea

My brother, Stephen, and I are co-blogging today. I was running out of ideas for a post and he offered to help me out. So if this post is lame....it's totallly HIS FAULT! :)
Here goes:

This is a picture.... This picture is black and white....This is a pitcher on a stool...
This reminds us of that famous Bible verse that says...umm..well, okay we'll paraphrase:
'Men do not hide their light under a table, but place it up on a stool so all can see.'
Thanks for reading!

We have been exercising at Red Rocks, (a natural amphitheater) running
the bleachers and walking hundreds of stairs is a pretty thorough workout,
and makes climbing 14ers easier ;)

~Psalm 108:3

I will praise thee, O LORD, among the people: and
I will sing praises unto thee among the nations.

Elaine-Week 3

Near our house is a large botanical garden called Powell Gardens. Last week, we were able to take a trip there with some friends of ours. The flowers there are just beautiful! :)

Luke 12:27 "Consider how the lillies of the field grow. They do not have to labor or spin."

Also, I realize that I did not post last week and I am so sorry about that...

Esther ~week 3~

 This is a picture of my Grandparents, taken at my cousin's wedding last year.
I love how happy they both look (even though they aren't looking at the the camera).
This fall will be their 59th anniversary.  They are such a good example!

..::Patricia::.. (Week Three)

This is a picture I took about a year ago of an adorable, darling, kitty...
It is actually one of the Oggs cats:)
All I have to say is that, I LOVE CATS. They are so purry, fuzzy, unconcerned, and carefree!
Now all I wish is that we were NOT renting....*sniff*

Emily Week Three

Yesterday we went with some friends to a nearby organic blueberry patch and picked about five gallons. We went about 6:30 in the morning, trying to beat the heat. It turned out beautiful! A slight breeze was blowing and the trees were full of ripe beautiful blueberries! We had a great time! (We even had a blueberry fight or two.) :)

I didn't think I liked them, but these were the best fruit I ever had! (It turned out to be a great breakfast too.)

Norma took these pictures for me since I forgot my camera. (What kind of photographer am I??)

"O Lord, how manifold are You works! In wisdom You have made them all. The earth is full of Your possessions...living things both small are great..may the glory of the Lord endure forever. May the Lord rejoice in His works."

We just put drip line in our gardens. I don't have to water by hand anymore.

Now I can be lazy, just sit back and watch.

(L to R=Me, Mommy, Daddy, Andy)
This picture was taken next to Lake Michigan.  I set it on the timer and I guess it decided it wanted to focus on the grass and not us.  But I thought it still looks pretty cool!

..::Patricia::.. (week two)

I think that this post might be about 'Picnik' and "watermarks". Yep, definitely.
Getting a Picnik account is easy and free, as long as you don't get "Picnik premium" or "advanced".
You can have five photos uploaded at once and if you add more then five they will automatically take one of your other photos off the site.
So you can constantly be adding new ones and getting rid of those you have already edited! Picnik is pretty much just a really fun photo editing place...It is sort of like Picasa, but Picasa can't do watermarks:)
A watermark, for those who don't know, is the words I have on my picture. Usually a watermark is either your name or the name of your photography business. (If you have one)
To do a watermark on Picnik up-load a photo, edit it how you like, then click on create. you will see a whole lot of different choices, such as borders, instant edit options, seasonal, and one button that says "text".
Click on that, type the words you want on your photo in the box, click "add", then choose your font making sure not to pick any advanced or premium ones.
Once your words are on the photo you can mess with the size and color too.
It is pretty easy and really fun, it makes your photos more personalized! So you should definitely go try it out....RIGHT NOW!

Emily week two

Yesterday we were knee-deep in granola. You see, my cousin owns some frozen yogurt store called "Yoforia" in North Carolina nad he asked us to make our handmade granola for his toppings. So, each week, we girls are making over 200 pounds of granola! It's all organic, fresh ingredients and it goes well with his healthy yogurt stores.

The other picture is of our Rose of Sharon that recently bloomed outside our front door. I thought it was so pretty that I had to post it.

God is so Creative

Rebekah week one

My dog Hershey just had 7 puppies wednesday night!
Two chocolates and five blacks.
I was not expecting them to come till the 14th.
I'm grateful that my Dad was out side at the time and
herd a squealing noise coming from the goat house.
He thought the dogs were killing a chicken.
(an unfortunate but reoccurring event around our place)
But instead he found Hershey and one black little puppy.
We took her in side, everything went great and now I have 7 healthy pups!!
This picture was actually taken from Hershey's First litter.
~Colossians 1:16~
For by him were all things created, that are in earth, visible and invisible...
all things are created by him and for him.

Elaine, Week 1

My family has been blessed with a varitey of flowers, each having its own unique color, shape and size. Among the many choices, my favorites have to be the purple and white Petunias. They mean more to me than just any ordinary flower would because they remind me of something very important. That something is a heart rescued from sin by God's grace. Now obviously, I don't mean its shape or its size looks like a heart, but to me the color represents salvation. All humans begin as sinners with dark hearts, but by making the decision to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, a Christian heart becomes a lovely and pure white. Then their faith will truly blossom.

I would like to challenge each person who reads this, definitely including myself, to think about two questions;

  1. Has your heart become the lovely, pure white that the Lord wants it to be?

  2. Is your walk with God really, truly and genuinely blossoming?

I chose a rather large passage for today's post. Of course, each of the thirteen verses are significant in their own way, but the three I have in bold stand out the most to me.

Hebrews 3:7-19--A Warning against Unbelief

7 So, as the Holy Spirit says: "Today if you hear His voice, 8 Do not harden your hearts as you did in the time of the rebellion, during the time of testing in the desert, 9where your fathers, who tested and tried me for forty years, saw what I did. 10 That is why I was angry with that generation, and I said 'Their hearts are always going astray and they do not know my ways.' 11 So I declared on oath in my anger, 'They shall never enter my rest.'" 12 See to it my brothers, that not one of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that will turn away from the true God. 13 Encourage one another daily, as long as it can be called today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin's decietfulness. 14 We have come to share in Christ if we hold firmly until the end the confidence we had in the beginning. 15 As has just been said "Do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion." 16 Who were those that heard, yet rebelled? Were they not those whome Moses led out of Egypt? 17 With whom was he angry forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the desert? 18 And to whom did God swear that those who disobeyed would never enter his rest? 19 So see: They Could not enter because of their unbelief.

Learning to play Golf in Minnesota last summer at a Family reunion!

Do you see anything wrong in this picture?  I like to say I was practicing!
And I know I didn't take this picture (obviously) but I thought it was pretty FUNNY!

...::Patricia::... (Week One)

Yesterday my twin and I, on nothing but a whim, went to the park near our house loaded with a quilt , fruit leathers, The Hobbit, Voss water bottles, and of course a camera!

We read aloud to one another, chatted, slept, ran around in our bare feet laughing, swung on the swings, climbed trees and documented the whole thing with photos.
The tree picture reminds me of my Dad...Funny, but he just loves wood. He is just one of those kind of people, that when you see him you can easily envision him in a cabin. Or at least my twin and I can:)
"This is the day the the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it."
Psalm 118:24
So live life and have a happy Summer!

Emily-Week One

We have been harvesting lots of veggies these past few weeks. As I looked at how much food we had, something hit me: some people don't have any fresh produce-or any food for that matter! It showed me just how pampered I am. I'm used to eating when I'm hungry. Some don't even know where their next meal will come from. Am I doing anything to help these starving people? Many don't even know what a fresh, local garden potato tastes like! Am I willing to share with those who have none?

What about spiritual food? Am I looking for ways to nourish starving people's souls-with the wonderful free gift of salvation? To those who have never tasted the delights of His saving grace, am I willing to share my bountiful blessing with others?
